ALLERGY EASE BLEND:  Allergy Ease Blend may help horses that experience an allergic reaction where the source isn’t known. It is a blend of Burdock, Clivers, Nettles, Peppermint, Brewers Yeast, Rosehips and Echinacea. Boosting the immune system can sometimes be half the battle won. That along with cleansing the blood, eliminating toxins and alleviating fevers.
Supporting the adrenal glands & nervous system and utilizing anti histamines & antioxidant properties all help to reduce allergic reactions. Keeping your horse clean and cool will also help in the fight against over reacting to allergens.
Dosage: 75gm twice daily.

BEETROOT POWDER: Improves exercise tolerance, power output, stamina, endurance and focus.
It is suggested that adding Beetroot to the diet will enhance a dark coat and make it either darker or richer in colour.
It is rich in antioxidants and contains beneficial polypehonols including resveretrol and quercetin along with anti-cancer agents.
Beetroot is known to boost energy and stamina, and to make the muscles work harder than usual.
It also reduces the negative effects that physical exercise might have on the body.
The vegetable is a rich source of vitamins: it has vitamin A, B6, B12, and C. It also contains important amounts of potassium, magnesium, sodium, iron, folic acid and betaine.
Dosage: 20gm  (1 tablespoon) daily.

BREWERS YEAST:  Brewers Yeast is natural Vitamin B complex.  It contains B1, necessary for the health of the nervous and digestive systems.  B2, for the eyes, lips and mouth.  B3, for balance of the adrenal gland.  B5, resisting disease.  B6, nervous system, appetite, digestion, liver, red blood cells and resisting infection.  B12, lethargy and anemia.
Dosage:  2 tablespoons daily.

BULK UP BLEND:   Are you struggling to put weight and or condition on your horse?
Bulk Up Blend is a combination of herbs & supplements that help those horses who are poor doers or have been debilitated through sickness or injury, to gain and maintain weight and condition.

The small two kilo size is appropriate for minis – horses need the larger size to give this blend time to show good results.

BURDOCK ROOT:  Burdock is used to treat skin conditions such as dry, scurfy skin, eczema and recurrent sores. It cleanses the inner workings of the horse, including the blood. It also assists in eliminating any build up of toxins via the skin and disperses excess nervous energy in a hot horse.
Dosage:  1 teaspoon – once or twice daily

CALENDULA:  Calendula is commonly used for treating cuts and wounds of all kinds.  It is anti-inflammatory as well as being anti-fungal and anti-bacterial . Traditionally it has been used as a Blood Tonic and good for circulation problems. It is very high in sulphur so will aid all skin problems if used internally or externally.  Calendula is a valuable herb for digestive inflammation and may be used in the treatment of gastric ulcers.
Dosage: Professional advice should be sought.

CANINE JOINT BLEND Plus:  This supplement is designed to help prevent, postpone or manage arthritis along with other soundness issues.  Do not feed to pregnant dogs.
Dosage guide:  Mix well with food

Very small dog, ½ level tsp – 2gm

Small dog, one level tsp – 4gm

Medium dog, one tsp – 5-6gm

Large dog, one heaped tsp – 7-8gm

Very large dog, two tsp – 10gm

CELERY:  Celery is a good cleansing, mildly diuretic herb, useful in ridding the system of an accumulation of waste products.  Other uses are to treat arthritic and rheumatic conditions.  Celery can also improve the circulation of fluids and encourages a horse to drink and sweat more easily.
Dosage:  10gm daily.

CHAMOMILE:  Chamomile is an important digestive, nervine, anti-arthritic, anti-spasmodic and anti-allergy herb, used most widely for its calming and relaxing effect on horses, especially those prone to loose manure or scouring.  It is an anti-inflammatory and may help in reducing allergic responses.  It is rich in Calcium and supports the body’s skeletal structure.  Chamomile is also recognized as being ulcer-protective through its healing effect on the mucosa of the gastro-intestinal tract.  It may also be applied externally as a wash to soothe allergic skin     conditions.
Dosage: ½-1 cup daily.

CHASTE TREE BERRY:  Chaste Tree Berry is primarily used to help balance hormonal irregularities in mares that may be displaying discomfort, erratic or “bitchy” behavior when they are in season.  Hormonal irregularities can also occur in geldings and stallions.  Chaste Tree Berry works well  in conjunction with Chamomile or the Cool Calmer Blend.

Chaste Tree Berry has also helped some horses suffering with Cushings Disease.
Dosage:  15gms per day in the feed.

CHIA SEED:  Some of the benefits that have been documented are: improvement of the Immune System, reducing joint inflammation, having a calming effect on horses and also being beneficial for weight gain.  Also noted is its capacity to improve healthy strong hoof growth, skin and coat condition. Chia is one of the highest plant sources of Omega 3, also containing Omega 6, is high in Calcium and Magnesium along with Iron, Potassium, Vit C,A,B12 and many Amino Acids.
Dosage  50-100gm once a day.

CLIVERS: Clivers is most beneficial for skin complaints. It is used for greasy heel and eczema but may also help with horses prone to tying-up. It helps the body eliminate toxins and is also useful for horses with allergies. Clivers may also be given to horses with hoof abscesses or to improve a dull coat or promote regrowth of the mane and tail.
Dosage:  2 tablespoons daily.

COMFORT BLEND: This is a unique blend of supplements to help horses experiencing pain and/or some soundness issues, gain quick relief and comfort. The combination of Devils Claw, MSM and Rosehips works as a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory, along with boosting the immune system and circulation. Comfort Blend can be used safely as an alternative to ‘bute’ and is far less likely to cause gastric ulceration.
Not for pregnant mares.
Dosage: 30gm daily.

COMFORT PLUS:  Just five ingredients may help your horse not only gain quick acting comfort but also maintain body support and prevent further inflammatory problems or soundness issues. This is a perfect blend to help not only relieve pain but may also improve the quality of connective tissue, cartilage, bones, and hooves.  Ingredients:  MSM, White Willow, Rosehip granules, Turmeric & Linseed Meal – all human grade.

Dosage:  50gm daily.

COMFREY:  Comfrey has many useful qualities.  It encourages cell growth after an injury, will help the body heal broken bones, hence the name “knit bone’.  It also helps heal cartilage and connective tissue.  Also useful in assisting soothing internal ulcers, horses suffering from respiratory congestion, and recovery from a bout of colic.
Dosage:  half a cup added to the feed up to three times a day.

CONDITIONING BLEND: This blend is a general supplement for all horses, in all disciplines, spelling horses, retired horses, pony club horses or just general pleasure horses.  It is rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, omegas and more.  If your horse is a little down in condition or you just want that bit of extra sparkle for a show, it won’t take long before you notice good weight, glossy coat, bright eyes, better hoof growth, mane & tail growth and your horse having a general feeling of wellbeing.  Linseed (Flaxseed Meal), Garlic, Rosehips, Seaweed, Brewers Yeast, Soybean Meal.
Dosage:  85gm daily – half for a pony.

COOL CALMER BLEND:    Chamomile, Vervain & Valerian.  Cool Calmer Blend is used most widely for its calming and relaxing effect on horses, especially those prone to loose manure or scouring.  It is also useful for the uptight horse, and when used over a period of time, it can help with excitability, nervousness and stress. It has the effect of allowing the horse to relax his whole body and may also be beneficial in horses prone to tying-up.  As a nervine relaxant and antispasmodic it can assist horses that are tense and sensitive by relaxing the gut, peripheral nerves and muscles.  This blend may swab.
Dosage: 1/2-1 cup daily or when required.  Feed for 3-4 months, then take a break for a week and restart if required.

DANDELION:   Dandelion is used widely as a liver cleanser and tonic, improves the metabolism, balances digestion and is also a tonic for the spleen, bladder and kidneys.  High in Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium, Dandelion is very useful as a natural electrolyte.
Dosage: 1-2 tablespoons daily.

DEVILS CLAW:  Devils Claw is regarded as the herbal alternative to ‘bute’ and cortisone.  It is well known for its ability to provide fast, reliable and powerful pain relief as well as having anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic benefits.  It can be used safely as a substitute to ‘bute’ however if feed in high doses or over a long period of time, the herb Marshmallow should be added to the diet. Devils Claw is often used in the healing of degenerative bone disease, developmental orthopedic disease, tendon and ligament damage, navicular and joint injury.
Dosage:  1 tablespoon once/twice daily when required.  May be doubled in acute cases.
Do not feed to pregnant mares.
If fed in high doses or over a long period of time, the herb Marshmallow may be added to the diet.

DOG MOBILITY Plus: This supplement is designed to help prevent, postpone or manage arthritis along with other soundness issues. Do not feed to pregnant dogs.
Dosage guide:  Mix well with food

Very small dog, ½ level tsp – 2gm

Small dog, one level tsp – 4gm

Medium dog, one tsp – 5-6gm

Large dog, one heaped tsp – 7-8gm

Very large dog, two tsp – 10gm

DOLOMITE – Mudgee:  Dolomite is a natural form of Calcium and Magnesium, which are needed for healthy bone growth, the nervous system, digestion and muscle health.
Dosage:  2 tablespoons daily. Stock grade.

ECHINACEA:  Echinacea is an effective immune system booster.  It contains Iron, Copper, Cobalt and  several fatty acids.  It plays an important part in fighting off bacterial and viral infection and preventing disease.
Dosage:  20gms 1-3 times daily when required.  Feed for 3-4 weeks, then off for one week and restart if necessary.

FLAXSEED:  Flaxseed Oil (Linseed) contains Omega 3 & 6, Linoleic Acid and high concentrations of beneficial fatty acids.  It is used in the prevention and treatment of arthritis and is good for the health of the immune system, digestive tract, ligaments and tendons.  Flaxseed may also be helpful in removing sand from the gut and preventing it from accumulating.
Dosage:  25mls daily.

FENUGREEK: Fenugreek is a great allround conditioner, especially for horses that have lost condition after being out of work or having had an illness. Great for strengthening hoof growth and giving shine to the coat.
Do not feed to pregnant mares.
Dosage:  20-30gm per day (start with a little)

FRENCH WHITE MILLET:  French White Millet (must be cooked or crushed) is very high in Silica.  It is most beneficial in eliminating foreign wastes from the body, facilitates the action of Calcium in the body to strengthen bones and hooves, as well as conditioning hair and skin.
Dosage:  1 cup daily.  Stock grade.

GARLIC:  Garlic works as a natural antibiotic, anti-bacterial & anti-fungal and is also anti-parasitic – deterring internal and external parasites.  Garlic contains many vitamins, amino acids, minerals, including Copper, Chromium, Molybdenum, Boron, Iron, Zinc and Selenium.  It is high in sulphur and when ingested, enters the blood stream, cleansing it of toxins and promoting a healthier immune system to help fight off bugs or infections.  Garlic also contains bioflavonoid compounds such as quercetin which retard inflammatory reactions.
Dosage:  1 tablespoon daily.

GARLIC, SEAWEED, ROSEHIP BLEND:  Garlic, Seaweed, & Rosehips.   This combination covers everything a horse needs to ensure optimum well being and promotes not only a healthy immune system, but strong, healthy hoof growth.
Dosage: 50gm daily, half for a pony

GELATIN:  Gelatin is most widely used for improving hooves and providing strong healthy hoof growth.  Patience is needed here as it may take up to six weeks to notice positive changes.
Dosage:  10-20gm daily

GET WELL BLEND:  Echinacea, Comfrey, Calendula, Clivers, Nettles & Rosehips all combine to improve circulation, immune system, cell growth, are antiviral & antibacterial, along with stimulating the lymphatic system and eliminating body toxins.
Dosage: 1 cup daily.

GLUCOSAMINE:  Glucosamine is most beneficial for horses that have suffered cartilage breakdown of the hock, fetlock, pastern and canon bone, horses that suffer from weak tendons and ligaments, and those afflicted with arthritis and in particular osteoarthritis.
Dosage:  10gms per day in the feed for maintenance.

GREEN LIPPED MUSSEL:  Pure Green Lipped Mussel Powder may help reduce the symptoms of Arthritis, Navicular Disease, Ringbone, Low Grade Chronic Lameness, Tendonitis, as well as helping knees, hocks, fetlocks and the neck and back area.
It is a rich source of Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Omegas 3 & 6 along with essential fatty acids.
It helps to reduce wear and tear in joints as well as rebuilding cartilage and connective tissue.
Dosage (guide only): One teaspoon (5 grams) for 10 days, 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 grams) for 10 days, if you notice significant improvement, feed just 1/4 of a teaspoon as a maintenance.

Happy Herbal may assist in balancing hormones in mares, geldings and stallions which can sometimes be the cause of unwanted behaviour. Contains:  Hemp Seed Meal, Linseed (Flaxseed) Meal, Soybean Meal, Chia Seed Meal.
Dosage:  2 cups daily

HERB & SUPPLEMENT COMBO:  This herb & supplement combo is natural, highly palatable, economical and convenient. In just one portion, you are providing your horse with an enormous quantity of minerals, trace elements and vitamins. This is a general supplement for most horses, focusing on prevention, and either bringing a horse up to peak condition, or simply maintaining a horse in optimum health. Whether your horse is agisted, at home, away, or somewhere in between, this is a great way of making sure that it’s not missing out on any nutrients. HERBAL ULCER BLEND:  Slippery Elm Powder, Marshmallow, Chamomile, Licorice & Comfrey
These herbs all work to reduce inflammation of the stomach lining and help reduce the onset of gastric ulceration.  Also effective for scouring and colitis, it soothes the digestive tract and helps regulate bacteria in the intestine.
Dosage: 1/2 – 1 cup daily – may be doubled in acute cases
Do not feed at the same time as medication or supplements e.g. Herbal Ulcer Blend morning, medication night.  Feed a few hours apart from other supplements.  Do not feed to pregnant mares.  If using this long term, alternate between Licorice and no Licorice.

HOOF & CONDITION BLEND:  MSM, Rosehips, Garlic, Fenugreek and Seaweed all combine to help promote fast, strong, healthy hoof growth along with strengthening the immune system.  It may also benefit those horses prone to Navicular disease and acute laminitis.
The small 1.25 kilo size is appropriate for minis – horses need the larger size to give this blend time to show good results.
Dosage: 70gm daily

INJURY BLEND:  Helps to improve circulation, immune system, cell growth, antiviral & antibacterial, along with stimulating the lymphatic system and eliminating body toxins.
Contains     Echinacea, Comfrey, Calendula, Clivers, Nettles & Rosehips.
Dosage:  1 cup daily.

 

ITCH BLEND:  Burdock, Chamomile, Clivers, Nettles.   Qld Itch Blend is a blend of herbs that help those horses prone to allergic reactions from biting insects, and also those suffering itchy, irritating skin diseases. It helps to purify the blood, is high in Silica and helps promote mane and tail growth.

The blend doesn’t stop whatever is biting your horse, you still need to feed Garlic, spray with an insecticidal spray, rug or whatever you’re doing – but it stops or reduces the allergic reaction, so the lumps don’t come up or are reduced and there’s no itch.
Dosage: 30gm morning and night – half for a pony.  When you have positive results, reduce to 30gm daily for maintenance.

ITCH COMPETITION BLEND: Itch Competition Blend is a blend of herbs that help those horses prone to allergic reactions from biting insects, and also those suffering itchy, irritating skin diseases. It helps to purify the blood,is high in Silica and helps promote mane and tail growth.
What makes this different from the original Itch Blend is there is no Chamomile which may be a banned substance in some competition. The addition of Rosehips helps as it acts as a natural anti-histamine. We would suggest buyers consult with their own association to confirm what ingredients if any may swab.

LICORICE :   Licorice has an anti-inflammatory action similar to pharmaceutical steroids and is useful for treating allergic respiratory problems.  It is also useful when treating systemic skin problems, especially those of unknown origin that start with an itch and lead to constant rubbing and raw skin.
If you suspect your horse has stomach ulcers, fed with a small handful of feed prior to the main meal, which will prepare your horse’s inflamed stomach for what is about to be eaten.
Other actions are: soothing and protecting membranes, encouraging the passage of mucous up the bronchials, tonic, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic,  mild laxative, spasmolytic ,relieving coughing, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.  Not to be fed over long periods or to pregnant mares.
Dosage:  1 teaspoon daily
Feed a few hours apart from other supplements.

LINSEED MEAL:  Linseed Meal is one of the best feeds containing high concentrations of the beneficial fatty acids, Linolenic Acid, Omega 3, and Linoleic Acid, Omega 6.  It’s great for the health of the digestive tract, ligaments and tendons, the immune system and prevention and treatment of arthritis.  In areas where soils are sandy, it is useful to help remove sand from the gut and prevent it from accumulating.
Dosage: 1-2 tablespoons daily.

MARSHMALLOW:  Marshmallow is soothing for the entire digestive tract and is beneficial for gastric complaints, such as ulcers, colitis, bloat and inflammation.  Its healing properties are also helpful for the urinary tract.
Dosage:  30gm once or twice daily in the feed.
Feed a few hours apart from other supplements.

MEADOWSWEET:  Meadowsweet is generally used to treat horses that have suffered chronic stomach complaints, it soothes the digestive system, reduces excessive acid and may help with rheumatic pain and scouring.
Dosage: 1 cup once or twice daily in the feed.

MOBILITY  Plus –  The combination of Green Lipped Mussel, Glucosamine, Shark Cartilage, MSM & Rosehips all help to reduce joint inflammation/pain, ringbone, cartilage breakdown, the onset of navicular disease and acute laminitis. MOBILITY Plus is also beneficial for horses that suffer from sore muscles, weak tendons and ligaments, enabling them to be more comfortable and have increased mobility.

MSM:  MSM (methylsulphonylmethane) is a source of bioavailable Sulphur with anti-inflammatory properties.  It may be useful in the treatment of joint problems, acute laminitis and early navicular disease.  Other conditions that may respond to MSM are: hoof growth problems and hair & coat condition.
Dosage: 20gms twice a day for maintenance.

NETTLES:  Nettles are rich in iron and Vitamin C. They are valued by herbalists for their astringent action and their ability to support the circulation making them ideal for laminitis and arthritis. Other uses:  raise the red cell count, blood cleanser and conditioner. Encourages the dapples in animal’s coats.
Dosage: 1 cup 2-3 times daily.

PEPPERMINT:  Peppermint may be used to tempt fussy eaters, those prone to colic as it eases flatulence.  It also helps to aid digestion, alleviate colds and general fevers.
Dosage: 1 good handful added to the feed daily.

PSYLLIUM:  Psyllium is high in fibre and mucilage and when combined with water it swells to many times its original size, becoming slimy and gelatinous. Diarrhoea is inhibited via the absorption of excess moisture and bulking up of faeces, and constipation is alleviated by the softening of stool and the promotion of bowel movement by the extra volume.
For horses, psyllium husk’s ability to pick up sand and move it through the gut is particularly valuable in the prevention and/or treatment of sand colic. Periodic addition of psyllium to the feed is practised in some sandy soil areas.
Dosage:  100gm per 100 kilo weight for 5 days.  Ensure your horse has plenty of water.  Stock grade.

RASPBERRY:  Raspberry gives tone to the uterus, so it is      very beneficial for a mare  that is having difficulty falling pregnant and also assists the recovery of the uterus  and encourages milk production.  Raspberry also addresses diarrhea and upper  respiratory tract discomfort or inflammation..
Dosage:  1 cup of dried leaf in the feed or made as a tea daily.  Stop during pregnancy and recommence the in the last three months of the term.

ROSEHIPS:   Rosehips are extremely high in Vitamin C as well as containing many other vitamins – one of which is Vitamin E.  The Vitamin C in Rosehips acts as a natural antihistamine, which can assist the allergy-prone horse.  They have a high mineral content including Copper and Cobalt.  They can be used as a general tonic and may be fed on a daily basis.  They are particularly useful after any stress, illness or injury and are beneficial for the health of the lungs.  They also contain Biotin for strong, healthy hoof growth.  Rosehips are a circulatory herb and an immune system booster.  Rosehips can also help alleviate gastric inflammation and scouring.
Dosage:  1-4 tablespoons daily.

ROSEHIPS, GARLIC, ECHINACEA BLEND: This blend is ideal for all horses as a general tonic and immune booster, ensuring healthy lungs & hoof growth, reducing inflammatory reactions, cleans the blood and fights off bacterial and viral infections.
Dosage: 50gm daily for 3-4 weeks, then one week off and start again if required.

SEAWEED:  Seaweed is a natural way of providing most of the minerals, vitamins and trace elements that may be missing in the diet and therefore ensures horses maintain peak condition.  When seaweed is added to the feed, it enables horses to extract and absorb every bit of protein and nutrition from their diet.
Dosage:  1 dessertspoon.  Stock grade.

SHARK CARTILAGE:  Shark Cartilage offers hope and promise in reducing the symptoms associated with chronic inflammation of bone, joints, connective tissues, and other conditions.  The benefits are reduction of pain and enhancement of mobility, along with decreases in joint and tendon swelling, improved general mobility and performance, improvement in skin and coat condition and increased rate of hoof growth.
Dosage:  20gms per day in the feed for maintenance.  Stock grade.

SLIPPERY ELM:  Slippery Elm is used primarily to soothe the lining of the digestive tract and regulate intestinal flora.  It also helps to treat scours and the older or debilitated horse will benefit from the bark’s nutritional value.
Dosage:  2 tablespoons with enough honey to form a paste and dose orally using a needleless syringe, or 2 tablespoons mixed with 1 cup of warm water and add the mixture to the horse’s feed.
As Slippery Elm is so mucilaginous, it is best fed at a different time than other medication/supps so as not to interfere with absorption.  Feed a few hours apart from other supplements.

SOYBEAN MEAL:  With the addition of Soybean Meal to your horses diet, you are assisting the liver, appetite, weight gain, digestion and nervous system.  Soybean Meal is benificial for all horses including younger, older and breeding horses along with those recovering from a debilitating injury or illness.
Dosage: 1/2 – 1 cup daily.  Stock grade.

SUMMER EQUINE BLEND: Rosehips, Chia, Organic Kelp, Garlic, Linseed (Flax) Meal. These natural ingredients combine to help keep your horse in optimum wellbeing throughout the Summer months.
Dosage:  70gm daily

SUNFLOWER SEEDS (Black):  Typically used to feed horses, black oil sunflower seeds contain high levels of protein. Black oil sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E and linoleic acid and provide a good source of fibre.  Horses benefit from its high fiber content.  It can also be a high source of energy and put a rich dark shine on a horse’s coat.
Dosage:  1/2 – 1 cup daily

TURMERIC:  Turmeric is a delightfully scented spice with a bright yellow orange colour.  It is known for it’s anti-inflammatory qualities along with aiding the liver, arthritis, some cancers, gastric disorders and itchy skin conditions.
Research suggests feeding with some freshly ground black pepper and a little Linseed (Flax) Oil for better absorption.
Dosage:  Start with 25gm and increase to desired amount

VALERIAN:  Valerian is most useful in helping the uptight horse, and when used over a period of time, it can help with excitability, nervousness and stress.   It has the effect of allowing the horse to relax his whole body and may also be beneficial in horses prone to tying-up.
Dosage:  1-2 tablespoons daily or when required.

VERVAIN:  Vervain has tonic, nerve restoring qualities which, combined with its ability to improve liver and digestive function, makes it well-suited to horses that are convalescing from chronic illness.  As a nervine relaxant and antispasmodic it can assist horses that are tense and sensitive by relaxing the gut, peripheral nerves and muscles.
Dosage:  1 good handful daily when required.
Some herbs may swab.

WELLBEING BLEND:  Rosehip, Garlic, Seaweed, Brewers Yeast, Soybean meal, Linseed Meal & Chia Seed.
This is a great combination that offers all natural vitamins, trace elements, minerals along with Omega 3 & 6 and the wonder seed Chia. This will ensure your horse’s diet does not consist of synthetically manufactured minerals and vitamins which are difficult for the body to metabolise. Instead, you can guarantee quality and freshness control. You WILL notice the difference.
Dosage: 80gm daily.

WINTER WARMER: This blend is suited to those  horses who may suffer with sore muscles, bad circulation, problems with arthritis, digestion and skin conditions.  It is useful as a mild diuretic and also a liver and kidney tonic. It helps to eliminate toxins and debris in the muscles that can build up with over exertion and is also beneficial for horses who need an immune booster.  Perfect for winter but very suitable for all year round.

HOW TO FEED HERBS

Herbs can be fed directly into dampened feed and mixed  well
OR
Pour 1 – 2 cups of boiling water over the herb, allow to cool and add the entire brew to the feed.  Mix well
OR
Infuse as you would tea, allow to cool, add the entire brew to the feed and mix well.
